Pope's health is still in danger.

Rome: Pope Francis (88) has not yet recovered from the danger, but his medical team at the Gemelli hospital in Rome, where he is being treated, has confirmed that there is no immediate threat to his life. Doctors have also stated that he will need to remain in the hospital throughout next week. It is well known that Pope Francis, who is suffering from severe illness due to bronchitis and pneumonia, was admitted to the hospital on the 14th of this month. For the first time on Friday, the doctors provided clarity on his health.

“We are providing him with oxygen enriched with vitamins and minerals intermittently. The pneumonia is present in both lungs, and he is responding well to the medical treatment to manage it,” the Gemelli hospital medical team explained. It was revealed that he is also suffering from a respiratory-related infection, according to test results. Meanwhile, discussions have already begun among the Cardinals about what would happen if Pope Francis needs to stay in the hospital for an extended period. If he is unable to perform his essential daily duties, will he step down from those responsibilities?

In 2013, while serving as the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis faced difficulty reading the Bible during prayers. As a result, he was hospitalized and received treatment. Additionally, Pope, who underwent hernia and colon surgeries since 2021, was confined to a wheelchair due to knee pain. Notably, when Pope Francis was 21 years old, he contracted pleurisy, which nearly led to his death. Doctors had to remove part of his right lung, which helped him survive.
